Structural Alterations Horsham, West Sussex

Project Description

The brief for this project was to remove the entire front gable wall of the house, extend it by a metre then rebuild it without it being noticeable. We were also asked to construct a front entrance area and a dormer window above. The walls on both floors were removed to create larger areas in the front hall and to form an open study on the first floor. Although this was a relatively small extension, it gave the customer the space they required in a home they loved. Equally important was the fact that they liked where they lived and wanted to avoid the hassles and costs associated with moving.

Features

  • Removal and rebuild of exterior wall
  • Extension of the front of the house
  • Creation of an entrance area with a dormer window above
  • Removal of the first floors walls
  • Creation of a study space

Structural Alterations Horsham, West Sussex

Project Description

This customer wanted to create a large room on the ground floor of the property, including a modern kitchen at one end. Four rooms were knocked into one, with steel beams inserted for support. To create a seamless finish, we fitted the beams into the spaces between the floor joists of the upper floor. The work had to be carried out sensitively so to not damage the newly fitted wet rooms above the space. External doors were also remodelled to allow easy access to the garden.

Features

  • Transforming four rooms into one large space
  • Insertion of steel beams into the ceiling
  • Remodelling external doors
  • Plastering of internal walls

Extension and Structural Alterations

Horsham, West Sussex

Project Description

Our brief was to remodel this house in order to create a large and functional family space. This was achieved by knocking through an exterior wall and extending the house out into the garden. An orangery was also built to form an additional light and airy space. Internal structures were altered by the removal of walls and steelwork added for support. In addition to these structural alterations, underfloor heating was laid to provide an efficient warming solution in the colder months. Outside, a new patio was added around the new structures, creating a pleasant outdoor space that could be taken advantage of in the summer.

Features

  • Erection of extension and orangery
  • Removal of exterior wall
  • New patio area
  • Underfloor heating
  • Double doors leading to the garden
  • Double glazed windows
  • Skylights in extension
  • Installation of new kitchen
